“If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.” - Jesus (John 4:10)
The gift of God is the ability to wash away your old self and emerge with new heavenly access and purpose. It cannot be earned, only given. It was made possible by the death of Jesus Christ on the cross. At this moment 2 billion people are living a changed life from a simple spoken statement of faith:
Admit
Lord Jesus, I admit I'm a sinner, and I know the punishment for sin is death. I have broken your commandments and I'm sorry.
Believe
I believe that You are the Son of God and the Lord of all Creation. I believe that You became a person and let Yourself be crucified to die in my place. I believe that You came back to life and returned to heaven.
Confess
I confess that Your death has redeemed me from sin and the shedding of Your blood has broken all bonds of sin on my life. I confess that you alone, Jesus, are the Lord of my life. Please cleanse my heart and mind and make me a new person. Please send your Holy Spirit to dwell in and upon me, to guide me and fill me with the fruits of the Spirit: Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self-Control.
Receive
In the Name of Jesus and the authority given to me by His shed blood, I renounce all my past sins, known and unknown. I renounce all bonds of evil on my life. I rebuke any evil spirits and command them to flee in the Name of Jesus. I plead the protection of the blood of Jesus over my self, my family and my possessions. Lord Jesus, please send life and healing into my body.
Listen For Guidance
Talk to Jesus. Thank Him! He has given you a huge gift! He has waited your whole life for you to open it, and He is excited to see your purpose fulfilled.
Listen for Him to reply. Be quiet, and try to listen with your mind and spirit. It more often comes as a feeling or "knowing" than audible words. Consider that God doesn't NEED to communicate with mere words if He can simply share His thoughts with your soul. You might question if it's your imagination--but over time it will become easier to recognize. Note that the Holy Spirit will NEVER, EVER tell you something contrary to the Bible. Which is one of the reasons it's so important to study the Bible.
“In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents..” - Jesus (Luke 15:10)
The world is filled with misleading information. Your number one defense against false teaching is the unchanging Word of God. As you read it the Holy Spirit will call your attention to verses that have special meaning to you on a personal level.
Start reading the Bible in Matthew chapter 5 where Jesus describes His true followers. Also check out our scripture reference page for commonly referenced verses on a variety of topics.
Begin attending a church. It will strengthen your understanding and provide companions on your journey.
Be careful to visit several churches and understand that like Christians not all churches are the same. Find one that is filled with the real Christians and is not afraid to preach what's in the Bible even if it's not what people want to hear. Understand that people who attend churches are at various stages in their own journey.
Your life has become more rewarding but also more challenging. You need friends that will help you succeed. Understand that not all self-proclaimed Christians meet the description in Matthew. Search for the real ones. You might even know some.
Change another life. Leave your pen behind for the next person to find!
If you feel like it send us a message! We'd love to hear your story.
A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
- Jesus (John 13:34-35)
